As part of our Support Community improvement project, we’re preserving inactive posts that have historical or community value and closing them to new comments. This is one of them!
If this post covers a topic that you’re interested in discussing with the community or requests a feature you’d like to see on Khan Academy, you can try to find an active post about it and add your thoughts (or feel free or create a new post if it doesn’t yet exist in the forum).
Me too I want to start over but I just can't!!!!!!☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️
Khan Academy does not have the functionality to reset the progress on an account. It's a fairly common feature request, but there's a practical problem that needs to be resolved first. You can imagine the drama if a student or sibling managed to go on another user's account an delete somebody else's progress.
My best tip in cases like this is to create a child account under your adult account, and use the child account for rehearsing. It won't be earning you points on your adult account, but if you are serious about learning the points probably come second to the ability to start afresh.
keep doing it, starting from the top i guess???
I just continually bookmark the last page that I was on
A Possible solution is to just delete you account...
2 years later and still no feature to reset progress.
Slacking tbh guys
One way to do this would be to require a secret pin that the parent sets up at the account creation time. Or have users re enter their password to reset the stats. Being able to reset your progress would be very very helpful.
Or maybe add a feature where an instructor can set up a class and have Khan ignore progress done prior to a certain date.
I'm using it as an algebra review for my Calculus students, but if they mastered the algebra topics years ago in high school and have forgotten the topics since then, that really doesn't help them.
I'm in the exact same boat. Life got crazy and it's been 3 years since I've studied. I've forgotten so much and need to just start over but can't find a way to rest. Help!
look i put a password in that was not it and im stuck
Being someone else interested in refreshing stuff I did a long time ago... I have an idea about this.that might solve the problem without causing the problems you're concerned about. I don't know if you'd want to implement it or if it could even be done, but i thought maybe it couldn't hurt to share...
How about a "review" mode. The way I imagine this it would work this way:
I sign into my account and realize it's been so long I've forgotten things and need to refresh that before I can continue (the problem behind why people are asking to reset progress.)
On the lessons page or somewhere else easy to access should be a button that says "Review Mode"..
When I press that button it greys out (but does NOT actually erase) my progress (thus avoiding that concern.)
Then I can choose which lesson I want to review from and it will go through that lesson /as if it is the first time I've taken it/, basically ignoring any later progress when Review Mode is on. I can start from the very beginning, a lesson or two back, or even skip around to review what I need to. Since it's a review it probably shouldn't add to points since I've already earned the points for that lesson, but it would let me refresh myself on the content.
I could turn review mode back off with the button and it could switch off when I sign out. If I still need it when I sign in again I can just turn it back on and pick up where I left off reviewing. It doesn't have any "progress" of its own to save since it's just a way to go over what's already been done as if it's not been seen before.
Once it's turned off, my normal already-done progress is back to not being greyed out - it was never deleted, just set up so the site would kind of temporarily ignore it while still letting me go through any lesson that it said I had already done. No progress is actually lost.
Does this solve both problems? I think it would be a useful feature if it could work.
Actually WhiteDove01s, that's a really good idea. Is there a way to send that directly to those who run the site? It might be a difficult implementation but that seems to be a way to solve the issue. I personally want to restart my JavaScript and Chemistry courses, and I'd vouch for that review mode all the way.
I really need to restart my progress on coding on khan academy and I need this feature.....
PPPPPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE add this feature.
I would really like a progress reset feature. At the very least in the teacher's account. I have a student account for myself and for my daughter so that I can go through and see the assignments I assign her before she does them. However, doing this on my tablet I access my teacher account via Google Chrome but when I click the assignments in my account on Chrome it takes me to the app under my daughter's account. I did not realize this before I myself completed all of the assignments that are now a part of her progress. So, being able to reset would be a wonderful feature, as I said, at the very least in the teacher's account.
Hi, I did the coding courses several years ago. Now my son starts to learn coding and I'd like to follow with him and re-doing the challenges. Resetting my progress would be nice. Keeping tab of the number of times the course has been taken would save all previous achievements and solve the risk of data loss.
Still waiting on this feature.
