Khan computing gurus: Please *encourage* learners. "Nope" isn't an answer.

Thank you for reaching out about this! I'm sorry to hear your son received an answer like that, and I definitely understand how frustrating and demotivating that can be.

The discussions feature is designed to be community-driven, where learners can answer each others' questions. We strive to maintain a community that supports and encourages each other, so that type of answer is definitely not in the spirit of our community. If you happen to come across anything like this again in the future, I encourage you to use the Flag button on the post to report it. This will report the comment directly to our moderation team, who can then take action on it and contact the poster if necessary.

When asking code-related questions about a specific project, I encourage your son to ask it as a Help Request, rather than a Question on one of the preceding videos. The answers to Help Requests tend to be more in-depth since the Help Request automatically provides the answerer with your full code for better context. Without the context of the full code, it can be incredibly difficult to answer questions about a project.

It doesn't look like he has posted a Help Request before, so here is an article explaining how the feature works. This is not mentioned in that article, but he will also first need to click the "Spin-Off" button on the project to save a copy of it to his profile. Then, he can post a Help Request on the copy saved to his profile.
