How do I opt out or turn off the reimagined Khan Academy platform?

Khan Academy has been reimagined for teachers and their students! We are thrilled to offer these updates to ensure a more streamlined and engaging learning experience. Check out the below resources to learn more about the changes:

Some reminders about the reimagined Khan Academy platform: 

1. The reimagined platform only applies to accounts with the teacher role enabled, and any students who are enrolled in a Khan Academy class
    
2. It does not apply to independent learners (those that are not in a class), or parents and their connected child accounts
   • If you are a parent and a teacher, you will see the new platform on your teacher dashboard, and the unchanged platform on your parent dashboard. 
   • If your child is also a student in a teacher’s class,  
3. If you would like to view your badges, energy points, and avatars: 
   • Simply visit https://www.khanacademy.org/profile/me/ 
   • You do not have to opt out of the new experience to still see your badges and energy points
4. The Computer Science courses and their discussions are not affected by this change.
   • You do not need to opt out of the new experience to use these 
5. If you would like to access to discussions outside of the Computer Science courses:
   • You need to opt out of the new experience

Below are the two steps to opt out of the reimagined Khan Academy experience:

• NOTE: Neither of these can be undone. Please proceed with caution! 

1. Remove any teachers from your account. 
   Reminder! If you do this, your Mastery points will remain on your account, but all of your assignment data and grades will be deleted. If you are a student still in school, please check with your teacher(s) before doing this! 
   To do this:
   1. From your Learner Dashboard, click the “Teachers” link from the lefthand side 
   2. Click the “Remove” button for all your teachers 
      • This only is an option for users above 13 years old and those who have the “can modify coaches” setting turned on. If you need help, please contact the Khan Academy support team 
   3. Refresh the page

2. If applicable, disable the teacher role on your account
   Reminder! If you do this, your classes and all of their assignments will be permanently deleted. Students’ Mastery progress will remain on their accounts, but you will not be able to see any grades for the assignments you made. 
   
   To do this: 

1. Go to https://www.khanacademy.org/settings/account
2. Adjust your homepage to one other than the Teacher Dashboard 
   
3.  Uncheck the teacher role 
4. Click “Save Changes” 
   
5. Then refresh the page 
6. If you unable to remove the teacher role on your account, but would like to no longer be a teacher please contact the Khan Academy support team
