How do I track student progress on a writing coach assignment?
Updated
Once you've assigned a Writing Coach assignment, your next step is to track student progress and review their work.
You can do this 2 ways: from the Writing Coach page, or from "Classes" in Khan Academy
Accessing your assignments from the Writing Coach page:
- Go to the assignments page of the Writing Coach
- Click the Khanmigo dropdown menu in the top right.
- Select Writing Coach to go to the Writing Coach page.
- Under the Assignments tab, you'll see a list of all Writing Coach assignments you've created.
- Click Review on any assignment to see student insights.
Accessing your assignments from your teacher home page:
- From your teacher home page, click on "Classes", then click on the specific class.
- Next, click on "Manage" under Assignments. Your Writing Coach assignment will be displayed. Click on "Review" to view student progress.
Viewing student progress
In the Assignment Review section, you'll find an overview of each student’s progress, including:
- Progress: Indicates whether a student has started the assignment. If they haven’t, it will say "Not started."
- Last updated: The last time the student was active on any part of the Writing Coach.
- Time spent: The total active minutes spent on the assignment.
- Word count: The total number of words in the student's latest draft.
- Writing feedback: The number of feedback comments the student has marked as resolved. (This does not indicate whether they implemented the feedback.)
-
Originality: If any originality flags exist, they will be shown here.
Reviewing student work
Click on a student’s progress stage to see details like their writing, timestamps, time spent, and any originality flags. You can also switch between students using the dropdown menu in the top right.
