How can we help?

Українська команда / The Ukrainian Team

Education determines a society’s future. But for the third year Ukraine has been at war, leaving 1 in 4 children not able to go to school in person. The KSE Foundation is stepping up to translate free, world-class educational material from Khan Academy for every child in Ukraine.

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted education worldwide, but for Ukrainian students from rural areas, the challenges have been particularly severe. According to PISA-2022, these students are lagging their city peers by 4.5 years in mathematics.

The situation has only worsened due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. The war has damaged 3,798 educational institutions, with 365 of them destroyed. In cities like Kharkiv, which face constant bombardment, students are often forced to study in underground schools. Their education is frequently interrupted by daily air-raid alarms and shellings, making consistent learning a difficult feat.

Despite these challenges, efforts are being made to support Ukrainian students and bridge the educational gap. By providing resources and innovative learning solutions, we aim to help these students continue their education and achieve their full potential, even in the face of adversity.

We believe in doing what we can to support Ukrainian children. By providing access to Khan Academy’s free, world-class education, we can ensure that any child with access to a shelter, internet connection, and a laptop or smartphone can continue their learning journey.

Our dedicated team of 39 people—including translators, video creators, auditors, and editors—has already completed our first course: Algebra Basics. We’re currently working on Precalculus and Arithmetic, with the goal of covering the entire school curriculum as soon as possible. This way, students can access high-quality resources even if they can't learn from a teacher, empowering them to help rebuild our country after victory.

Your support can make a real difference for Ukrainian children. To learn more about our initiative and support us, visit https://foundation.kse.ua/en/projects/khan-academy-for-ukraine/?form=FUNFDCXKQPK

We are incredibly grateful to our team members who are working hard to make Khan Academy's free, world-class education available to every student, parent, and teacher in Ukraine.
