How can I block the discussions under articles and videos from my students?
Updated
We recognize that some Khan Academy teachers and school administrators may want to block the discussions from being visible to their students.
At this time there are two options to turn off discussions:
-
If you are part of an official Khan Academy Districts or Khan Academy Districts + Learning Paths partnership:
- Your district administrator(s) can block the discussions for your students. If you are rostered with Khan Academy as a District Administrator, can do this on the "Districts Settings" section of your Administrator Dashboard.
-
If you are not part of a Khan Academy Districts or Khan Academy Districts + Learning Paths, please have your IT team follow the below steps to have the discussions blocked:
- To block community discussions at a school-wide level, an IT administrator can block the following URL, as it is what makes the discussions visible on Khan Academy: https://www.khanacademy.org/api/internal/graphql/feedbackQuery
- Reminder: Please ensure there is not a space before or after the URL when it is added to the block list.
- The most common method for blocking the URL is configuring a firewall, but it could also be done via a proxy, a VPN, or a web filter
- Please note: blocking this URL will hide all community questions and discussions across all Khan Academy content, including the Computer Science courses.
Once you have blocked or added the URL to your school’s block list, the discussions will not show to students. Below are some screenshots of what the experience will be like before and after blocking discussions:
