Know when students update or turn in assignments

Hello,

Is there a way to see when students turn in work? I'm confused as to why that is not a more obvious feature. There seems to be no way to know if students are turning work in late, and I have some students who are trying to scam me by submitting work days after I collected it and tell me it was uploaded on time.

I can't turn off late submissions because of students who are sick, so it would be great if you had a note on an assignment about when it was submitted, or some sort of notification if work is being turned in late.
