Grouping Assignments

My 4th grader gets overwhelmed too.  However, I want to know what I'm assigning next.  The easiest workaround for both of you is to assign specific due dates, and have your son understand that he can ignore them until the day it's assigned.  If it's still overwhelming, you could try what I do.

When you assign a lesson, there's a "save and assign later option" to the left of the "assign" button.  If you click that, you will see it in the manage tab (active assignments is the default view, but there is a tab for saved on the right of active, just below the dropdown to switch timeframe), but your son won't see those lessons until you assign them.

No, there's no way to separate by class.  I assign 1-3 things per subject, per day, and I keep in mind that khan will NOT keep them in the order that I assign.  I write out a schedule each day, and it lists the assignments in order (for tomorrow, grammar is nouns: -f to -ves, -en, base).  She checks the schedule, that way she does them in an order that helps her.  (Last week was estimation.  I listed it as Round whole numbers, challenge, word problems on her schedule, and she understood.)  It's actually helped her to stay on track during the day, because she has a master list of every assignment, knows exactly which site, manipulative, book or paper to grab, and she knows which ones are solely her responsibility versus those that require discussion or help.

It takes me about an hour each Friday night to file the week's papers and update the spreadsheet on progress and time.  I take an additional hour Sunday night to write the basic daily schedule for the following week and edit the saved assignments that will be done on Monday.  Finally, I take about 10 minutes each weeknight to edit the saved assignments and update the written schedule for the following day.

I was able to at least separate by class, by creating different classes for each subject and adding my son as a student.  This helps me by at least separating the grades, but he still sees all of them. They are labeled by what class they are, but they're all together.
