Bring Back the Knowledge Map!
Hello
There used to be a beautiful 'skill tree' of knowledge. It showed the prerequisites for each module like a RPG or Civilization.
I thought it was pretty cool.

Hi Olivia,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Our team is always working on implementing features and adding content that will help our users reach their educational goals, so hearing your thoughts is incredibly helpful.
Thank you again!
I also miss the knowledge map....it's the main reason I was coming back to Khan academy....I'll still give the new version a go, but I feel ....idk. It was really helpful seeing the whole system and knowing where you are and stuff and what relies on what, and how concepts connect
I remember it being really slow and clunky too, but it was still good. I don't know if mind mapping software would be a better way to go or what, or even like an image you can zoom into. Idk, I'm just throwing out ideas. That and Sal's math lessons were what really made me come back to Khan Academy. There are more lessons now and they look cool, but what I needed help in and need help in now as a returning student is math. The tree made me feel optimistic I think, hahaha. It was super useful and kinda irreplaceable as a utility and a way to frame your education and perspective and how you came to the table with the lesson you were learning at that time. I don't think it can be substituted except as a tree 2.0 sort of thing.
Hi! I am curious about the skill tree. I had never used it before, but thought of making an interactive skill tree for educational purposes for my students. I know this might be a long shot, but if someone who was on the Khan Academy skill tree project would be willing to talk with me for about a half hour so I could pick their brain about Khan Academy's successes and failures with it, that would be amazing. Or, at least, I would be very grateful just to have a response to this post giving me some context as to why Khan Academy decided to let go of the skill tree aspect of their service. That is a purely inquisitive ask, by the way. I believe it will greatly inform the direction I go with my own project. Thank you for your time!... Also, thank you for existing.
I would be open to developing a skill-tree 2.0, but I need some way to download KA's lesson dataset.
