Google Fonts on Programs

Hi King Studios,

As far as I know, Google Fonts are allowed on Khan.  I've never heard otherwise, but I'll check with the rest of the support advocate team, cause I've seen PJS programs that use google fonts.

Basically Google Fonts (from my knowledge) is just a database of really cool fonts, and there's hundreds of them.  Here's the list.

Once I get a response from someone on the SA team I'll let you know if you can use them, and how to use them if they're allowed.

I've gotten many reports from many people (including advanced programmers like Arrowhead Co) that they had programs hidden due to Google Fonts on their PJS programs. Khan Academy has some sort of a grudge against them, I don't know why.

Using Google Fonts is OK in the webpage environment, but it breaks the "disallowed functionality" section of the Program Guidelines when used in the PJS environment.

In the webpage environment, you can use Google Fonts by importing the font using a <link> tag. In the PJS environment, you can use createFont() to add new fonts to your program, but this function does not accept Google Fonts as an input option. Some users are able to get around this using "hacky" code, but since this functionality is not intended, these actions do not adhere to our guidelines.

The program that you linked to in your original post is OK, because it does not use Google Fonts. In the createFont() function you can enter the name of any font that you have installed on your device to use it, but the viewers of your program will also need to have that font on their device in order to see it.
