How to write a good essay?
I'll assume you mean an argumentative (rhetorical) essay.
The basic structural conventions of what is considered a properly organised rhetorical essay are: an introduction, a body, and a conclusion.
Within your introduction and conclusion, you should establish your talking points, and assert your claim (commonly called your thesis statement).
Within the body, you should subdivide your points into separate paragraphs based on the specific examples you'll be providing and the sub-argument you're trying to make (which should directly relate to your main argument). The paragraphs will typically begin with a topic sentence which makes a claim, and the following sentences will focus on supporting this claim.
Each point you argue should have logical support. You should explain how your points and examples relate to each other, and these points should relate to your main point.
After your body is complete, you finish with your conclusion. Your conclusion is a summation of the information you presented within your essay (in brief) and a reassertion of your claim.
It may seem daunting to get into the world of rhetorical English (especially if you're not a big fan of English to begin with--from experience) but really, it's just making a good, logical argument.
This is a very brief and very generalised model for rhetorical essay writing, but it should be fairly helpful--at least in constructing each of your points (which you'll recall begins with your point, leads into an example or proof, and has an explanation of their connection with one another).
If you have any more questions, or if any of this seems unclear, feel free to ask more.
thnx alex
