China in 1275

I am looking for help with a paper I have to do for my World History class.  Can anyone help me find information or a good starting point?  Here are my instructions, You are a young Han Chinese man or woman living under Mongol rule in Beijing in 1275. Write a diary entry about Marco Polo’s arrival. What did his arrival mean to the peasant Han and other subjects of Kublai Khan? How was life under Mongol rule? Remember your lowly ethnic and social status and that it is 1275, you will be graded on the appropriate historical details. You only have knowledge of the events previous to 1275.
