All the black hole badges are much more mysterious then comprehended.
What may happen if all of them are achieved?
If they are achieved, will we be able to sal khan himself, or will we get an award?
Is it just a lucky chance of getting them, or do we get them through experience?
By when may we get confirmations on what these mysterious badges do?
These questions need to be answered.
How may we Khanacademy users address this question?
well, black hole badges basically flex your learning of skills, not luck. I have been using a different account to grind Maelstorm and I'm only ~30% done with it. believe me, you have to put a lot of hard work into getting Black Hole badges.
Awards: As far as I know, the badge itself is an award since these are SO rare!
I commented in one discussion board on KA all the BHBs and how to get them. Here's a brief summary:
Atlas: Master 5000 Skills (very hard)
Artemis: Master 7500 Skills (impossible)
Tesla: Obtain 10M Energy Points (moderately hard)
Maelstrom: Attain Proficiency in 4950 Skills (hard)
Herculean: Attain Proficiency in all skills to date (incredibly hard)
Galileo: Create 3000 Videos (impossible normally)
Is Sal: Be Salman Khan (impossible obviously)

That's really impressive! you probably will be invited too I guess, I'm exactl at 50 from 110 on Level 110 right now, I wonder how many levels there are if a Max Level exists, what I can say is, the last level is at least 111 or higher, but I think it's at least 7,000, since in the Maelstrom anouncement community post moderator said there are at least 7,000 available skills to public master (there are probably unlisted skills to master also)

Last I checked, the current registered skills on KA hovers at about 7270. If this statistic is still correct, that means that the maximum attainable level using Gauss's triangular number theorem and my own stacking triangle factor theorem is Level 120 with 10 skills left over. I'd say this is about right. The reason Atlas is so difficult even now is because it requires mastery of 5000 skills. As many of us know, many of the KA courses don't have a "Proficiency" or "Mastery" rank, and only give the effect of Proficiency upon completion. This means these courses do not count towards progress for the Atlas badge. Back in the day, us legacy users had a portal called Missions. This Missions portal organized the courses (mostly for math) into an organized group with progress tracking and a bunch of statistics. The reason for removing the Missions portal was that KA was moving towards a more stable foundation for the source code, Python3, while the Missions portal was built entirely in Python2 and because of how complicated it was and many tricks they used that are unavailable in Python3 they couldn't get it transferred easily. So they retired the portal, as well as many features and badges that become unattainable or difficult to obtain. One of the features of the portal I particularly enjoyed was that it told you exactly how many skills you had attained Proficiency in as well as how many you had Mastered. Furthermore, if you got close to a Skill Badge such as Newton or Galileo it would tell you how many more Mastered Skills you needed for the Badge. Legends of the day even said it did the same for Atlas, although Atlas itself was just barely unattainable as just before the close of the Missions portal KA had about 4600 skills that could be mastered. Nowadays, looking at the skills that lack a progress meter and thus only Proficiency can be attained, I can estimate that there are some 6000 skills in KA that you can attain Mastery in. This is above the requirement for Atlas, but the badge won't be easy nonetheless as hundreds of these skills are in hard-to-reach places. Artemis requires 7500 skills and even if every course in KA today was fully able to be Mastered, the badge would still be impossible. A member of the KA team has estimated that they should reach 7500 skills sometime in Spring of 2026. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
