Renaming Courses/Offering Alternatives for Special Educators

I love Khan Academy and use it as a Tier 3 intervention with my Special Education students. However, many of them are self-conscious about being significantly behind grade level in math in particular and don't want to be in a course titled "Second Grade Math" when they are in 4th or 5th grade.

If there were a way to offer a course called something like "Foundations of Math" or something like that, it would be super helpful. The same goes for Language Arts. I know there's an arithmetic course, but even that is too difficult for some of my students to even get started on.

Thank you for sharing this feedback! I completely understand how course titles like "2nd Grade Math" can feel discouraging for older learners who are working hard to build foundational skills.

I've shared your suggestion with our content team so they can consider it as we plan future updates. Naming and framing really do matter, and we appreciate you pointing this out.

In the meantime, you might find our Early Math Review course helpful. It includes all of the content from 1st Grade math and most of the content from 2nd grade math, but it's presented as a standalone course with a more neutral title.

There's also the other courses found under "Math: Multiple grades", such as the general Arithmetic course.
