Adding “Why This Task Is Necessary” to KA

Hi!

I have an idea (that I’ve sent to the KA team), and I’m wondering what the Khan Academy community thinks of it.

I’m wondering if KA could add in videos/tasks a reason why this task is necessary or what you can use it for. As this is a question that I am frequently wondering.

I think Khan academy is great, but is also missing an important element. The reason for “why a task is useful” would make the website amazing, more educational and useful.

For example, here are some questions from the “Factor with the distributive property” video:

- “How can we use distributive property in everyday life scenarios- as I'm struggling finding a use for it?”

- “why do we have to learn math like this we will never need it”.

These comments have been copied and pasted.

Of course, there probably is a great use and for this task, but most students would have no idea what it is.
