My students are using Khan Academy to prepare for the SAT. I have been giving little prizes to students for earning points. On my Teacher Dashboard I can see how many points each student has earned. The problem is, my students can't see their own point progress. Where would they find this? I think that being able to see their own point progress in real time would be highly motivating. I find this frustrating as well. I tell my students to earn 15,000 points each week and they cannot see their own progress. Why is that?
Can they make themselves their own coach and then track their progress that way?
I don't understand why KA offers teachers a metric that the students themselves cannot access...

Just to clarify, you're referring to the Energy Points statistic, correct?
If so, the students can view their total energy points from their Profile page. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to see a breakdown per week, but if they write down their total at the beginning of the week, they can then easily calculate how much has been added that week.

I would love for kids to be able to track their own progress. I hope Khan Academy Makes this a, near future, priority. I have shown kids how to look in their progress page, but "skills leveled up" doesn't really come up and it is not easy to tell what they have done. It is really difficult to set goals with students when they don't know how far or near their goal they are. I make it a goal to level up 6 levels a week and it is so annoying how often I need to check it for them. Sometimes students think they leveled up 6 times but because they cannot check they will miss their weekly prize by one skill level. I know this sounds petty and I can just check it more often but when you have sixty 4th graders and they all want to know how they are doing, it gets overwhelming.
I could do energy points but the energy points are vague. They can get them from practice, videos, or reading the notes. It's great that they do these things, but at the end of the day the skills they are mastering are the most important. Yes, points would be easier for them to track but it is not the best way for them to see their actual progress through their course.
