Adult Literacy

With the increasing adoption of smartphones, I believe Khan Academy can be a great resource for Adult Literacy materials. I am currently a digital literacy tutor (with an organization that offers ESOL, adult literacy, and digital literacy tutoring) and I have found my students request help with using computers, but their real hurdle is reading, spelling/writing, and plain old confidence. 

While there are existing programs out there, these resources aren't widely known, don't often use the most intuitive user interfaces, and some come with great cost for the non-profit organizations that use them. I believe Khan can contribute by surveying the existing content, finding where content is cost-prohibitive or lacking, and potentially partner with existing content developers and literacy organizations to improve accessibility and quality of these resources for both organizations and solo learners.
