Some of my parents want to know when their student is given a Khan assignment (notify parents when their children have new assignments)

Hello Walker! That is an excellent suggestion! I would go one further and suggest that there should be an Assignments tab in the Child Summary page parents see or a Notification sent to parents in Khan Academy.  I will add this request to the user wish-list being compiled for the Khan Academy developers. That would be amazing!  But if it's faster for developers to just do one or the other right away, it would be a huge help. I don't have time to send all those individual emails to parents.  Khan has them & I'm thinking it's just matter of syncing parent + child email. 

Hello Walker! Hopefully this will be a feature that is added soon. A work around I've used in the past is to have the students send their parents a weekly email newsletter with the assignments. Please let me know if you have any further questions, comments, or suggestions. Thank you for posting. 

I'm not sure this work-around would work well with my students.  I'm wondering which would voluntarily send their parents an email which would essentially be asking for the parents to make sure they do their work.  Students have so many fun things to do.  I need to keep the parents informed and would be eternally grateful if you would help me to be able to do that efficiently. 

Hello Walker! I feel your pain! Another way would be to create a Parent Class or add parents to your existing class then they would receive alerts regarding assignments the same as their students. The Khan Academy developers have been made aware of the feature request so hopefully it will make it to the "do" list soon. This may be a viable temporary work-around for elementary teachers who don't do much in the way of personalized remediation.  When I assign personalized remedial work for my high school students, however, I would also have to assign it to his or her parents.  That's a ton of extra work when there are 150 students because I have to figure out which parent email goes with which student for each personalized assignment, and mistakes could cause significant frustration.  

Hello Dr. Lane Walker! I apologize for previously using the wrong name. Yes, I agree these are huge obstacles for HS teachers. A fix could be to use the parent's email but have the student's name as the display name so there's no confusion about who's parent you are sending the assignment to. Again, I know these are all added steps for you and your initial suggested would be the best solution. As I stated earlier completing a request is a great way to alert the Khan staff immediately. I've already added your post to an internal thread so hopefully the multiple points of contact will help push this feature request to the top. Thank you for posting.
