You would want to start out by writing your number line with ticks every 1/3 so that it is easier to see the movements. Start by explaining that the (-2/3) means we would move to the left but the -5 means we switch directions or however you want to explain how two negatives make a positive. Then you would start out the 2/3 mark and say that we have one 2/3 but we want five 2/3 so we need to move 4 more times by 2/3 on the number line. Eventually coming to stop at 10/3 or 3 1/3.
