How can my students customize Khanmigo?
Students in the Khanmigo Classroom Pilot can personalize their Khanmigo by unlocking accessories using Gems. These accessories let students dress up Khanmigo with fun items like hats and glasses.
Students earn one accessory for every 50 Gems earned.
Gems are part of the motivation system in the pilot. The more students participate and complete activities, the more Gems they earn. Over time, students unlock accessories from different collections.

How do students know they’ve earned an accessory?
When a student finishes an assignment and earns enough Gems, a pop-up will appear showing the reward.
- Clicking “Reveal item” will show the unlocked accessory
- Clicking “Wear item” will put it on Khanmigo
How can students access and customize Khanmigo?
Students can open their Achievements page anytime to view their total Gems, track their class’s progress in the Gem Challenge, and outfit Khanmigo.
Here’s how:
- From their Learner Home or any lesson, students click their Gem total in the upper-right corner.
- This opens the Achievements view.

- Click Customize Khanmigo to enter Khanmigo’s Collections.
What is Khanmigo’s Collection?
In Khanmigo’s Collections, students can :
- View and equip accessories they’ve unlocked.
- Each collection contains a set of accessories.
- Khanmigo can wear one hat and one pair of glasses at a time.
- Accessories are unlocked randomly.
- New collections unlock over time as students continue to earn Gems.
- Each collection contains a set of accessories.
- Choose Khanmigo's color
Wherever Khanmigo appears, your students’ selected outfit will show too!
Key things to know
- Every 50 Gems unlocks one random accessory.
- Gems can unlock both accessories and new collections.
- If a student has multiple collections unlocked, new accessories will be randomly drawn from any of them.
