How do I earn gems in Khan Academy Reimagined?

In Khan Academy Reimagined, you can earn gems by completing the work your teacher assigns. Your teacher sets a class gem goal, and every time you finish work and show learning, you help your class get closer to that goal.

What are gems?

• Gems are a way to celebrate your learning. When you finish certain assignments like exercises, quizzes, or Khanmigo chats, you earn gems.
• Your gems count toward your class’s total, and reaching gem goals can unlock cool class rewards your teacher has chosen.

How do I earn gems?

• You earn gems by completing activities your teacher assigns you in Khan Academy. Each type of activity gives you a different number of gems.

Can I earn bonus gems?

Yes! You can earn extra gems when you do even more:

• 5 bonus gems for moving a skill from Proficient to Mastery (in a unit test)
• 10 bonus gems for finishing a full unit assigned by your teacher
• 1 bonus gem for finishing all work in a daily mission
• 5 bonus gems for finishing all work in a weekly mission

Can I lose gems?

No. Once you earn gems, they are yours to keep!

• You won’t lose gems even if a skill level goes down later.
• You also won’t earn gems again for making the same skill Proficient a second time.

Where can I see my gems?

You can see how many gems you’ve earned in a few places:

1. The top right-hand corner of your “Classes” page shows your lifetime earned gems
2. Below "Missions completed," you'll see your individually contributed gems to a class gem-challenge
    
3. In the “Achievements” page. You can see your own count and your class count
   
4. At the end of each activity
