How to assign lessons to kid

Hi 

I am very new - I made my kid do some work on the get ready for 4 th grade and I see the progress on my dashboard but it doesn’t show as completed on his end. Do I need to make him go in through his account. I think although I set up an account for him and myself can’t quite understand how to switch in between both.
