Nested fractions when you have to determine what a "one" is and is not.
there haven't been a lot of comments on the nested fraction thread. I'm currently having a hard time with problems that state "y is not equivalent to zero" " x is not equivalent to zero" "x is not equivalent to y" so on and so forth. I'm not sure how to make sense of these. when there is a one is a being added to a fraction you can just add one under these terms. when "x is not equivalent to 0" and "y is not equivalent to 0" what does a one look like when added to the rest of the fraction. I have no problems with adding or multiplying fractions. the problem is when a one (which is expressed 1/1) know which variable to use makes the difference between an equation that you simplified and utter nonsense. Any help on this matter would be appreciated.
