Non-commercial use of videos and lessons
I have a question relating to an answer in your FAQ about use of Khan Academy material:
"You are welcome to link the materials on our website and, in general, to use the website offerings at www.khanacademy.org, as long as there is not a charge specific to using the resource (for example, if a tutor charges $20 per hour per student without Khan Academy but $30 per hour with Khan Academy, that violates the non-commercial clause)."
Stellenbosch University Centre for Pedagogy (SUNCEP) offers teacher professional learning, in-service training to teachers in South Africa, focussing mainly on upscaling teacher qualifications for teachers who in the previous dispensation could not receive adequate training opportunities. Many of our teachers reside in rural areas across South Africa and have limited access to internet (data costs in South Africa is the highest in Africa). When offering a course it is always in partnership with the Department of Basic Education or one of the subsidiary provincial departments and private funders - in other words, SUNCEP is remunerated for offering the courses by these departments or funders, but the teachers attend these courses for free and receive all material for free. The courses are offered via blended learning format (face-2-face, sattelite broadcasts, self-contained html5 e-lessons and Moodle online support).
Would it be possible for SUNCEP, while giving full attribution with each video or lesson we use, and live links to the Khan Academy website, to use Khan Academy material in the resources we supply to teachers on our courses? Or would that violate your terms of use?
Kind regards
