The ability to communicate with students is limited to them seeing a new assignment that they have received from their coach.

As far as the time is concerned, Khan Academy is focused on student practice and not time however one feature that you may find useful is the activity overview. First select one of your class and from the tools menu on the left you will see activity overview. If you click on a particular student there is additional information provided. Hope this helps.
