When learning about topics, it'd be so helpful to have visual proofs in some topics. And the "why's" as to why something is the way it is, better explained.

In Grade 7 Math, Unit 6, where students learn about the circumference and area of circle's formulas, showing the visual proofs of 2(pi)r and (pi)r^2 would be so much more engaging in understanding why the circumference and area use those formulas.

This post came from stumbling across the videos "Quick Visual Proof: Area of a Circle" by Eddie Woo AND "Area of a circle, formula explained" by mathematicsonline. And I think they explain why they make sense so well.

You learn so much about what the formulas in math are and rarely get to learn the "why's" behind formulas in Math. I think it would help students understand things better without having for them to go out of their way to find this information like I did.

In Grade 8, Unit 1. For "The 0 & 1st Power" Lesson, it'd be helpful to also relate why it is the case that Numbers to the power of 0, equals to 1. Like the video "Why do numbers to the power of 0 equal 1?" explains how mathematicians of old had to try finding it in reverse. Like If 2^3 = 8 and 2^4 = 16, how do you get from 2^4 to 2^3? You would divide by 2 like so, "(2^4)/2 = 2*2*2*2 / 2 = 2^3"

Dividing by 2, cancels out the last 2 that you multiplied. So you would go on to ->

(2^3)/2 = 2^2 = 2*2*2 / 2 = 4

(2^2)/2 = 2^1 = 2*2 / 2 = 2

(2^1)/2 = 2^0 = 2 / 2 = 1

2^0 = 1.
