Simplifying quadratic expression

Both of the following expression are equivalent to 16x^2 yet Khan marks one right and the other wrong. That's probably because I am wrong and can't see where I am wrong. Please write me how I'm wrong.

8x(2x-1) = 16x^2 - 8x

8(2x^2 - x) = 16x^2 - 8x

To me, they are both right. But recently Khan marked the first one right, and the second one wrong. Khan gave 4 choices. The above where 2 of the 4. On 1 was right. Yet they are both equivalent? Thanks.

Was the objective of the assignment to write the answer as 16x^2 - 8x or to write it as the portion to the left of the equal sign, that is, either 8x(2x - 1) or 8(2x^2 - x)?

If it was the latter, I think the first one is considered to be correct because it is more completely factored, with the x along with the 8 outside of the parentheses.

If it was the former, I don't see any difference except that maybe you had a typing error in your original answer.
