what did I do wrong

Wow, Lacy, I am so sorry you had to wait so long for an answer to this.

If you are asking why the green rectangle isn't around your text, I encourage you to look at the documentation on the rect() command.

The second number in the rect() controls the y position of your rectangle, that is, how far down the screen it appears.

If you use the number scrubber to move this second number, you'll be able to put the rectangle exactly where you want it.
