To link the two accounts, you should be entering your email on your child's account settings page.

Your child will need to visit their Account Settings page and then enter the email attached to your account under the "Parent/Guardian email" section. An invitation link should then be sent to your email that will allow you to confirm that you want the accounts to be linked.
