Guardians, Posts, Flagging, more
Hello!
11 days ago, I received my first guardian message. The moderator informed me of him hiding a survey and my response to it on my program. He said:
I am messaging you to let you know that I hid a survey on your program, and I hid your response. If you would delete it, we would appreciate it. You can find it here: https://www.khanacademy.org/profile/kaid_1022771308406748622482319/discussion
I know what post and answer the guardian was referring to. I tried to locate it, but I couldn't find it. I deleted my program instead...
Why couldn't I see my post?
What happens when a guardian hides a post? Is it supposed to be only visible to the poster?
How was I supposed to delete it? Should I just ignore what the guardian said about it?
Could guardians hide posts in the help center too?
I was fortunate to know what post the guardian was referring to. However, not everyone could keep track of what discussion activity they made. What if a person doesn't know what post the guardian was referring to in a message?
Why don't guardians put a link to the discussion post they were referring to instead of just putting a link to a person's discussion page? Is it because its our responsibility to know what we're doing? Is it because it would be difficult to get the link to a post?
Could there be a program that gets a post's qa expand key?
Why can't I see all the discussion activities I made in my discussion page?
Is there a limit to what it can show? Why can't it show them all?
The guardian also told me about flagging and bans:
When encountering Questions that are off-topic, inappropriate, spam, or should be in Tips & Thanks, please click the 'Flag' button and choose the appropriate category instead of responding. This helps speed up the time it takes Guardians to respond.
Any questions about Guardians, bans, the ban appeal process and similar should be directed to the help center, not to other users. Additionally, Guardians do not discuss users bans with anyone except the user in question. This is a privacy issue that would violate the community's trust in us.
I am scared of flagging. I worry that when I flag someone's post, it gets edited later unknowingly to me, getting me a warning about inappropriate flagging.
What is flagging really? How should we view or think of it?
Is it some sort of ping to a guardian for attention or something like a report to a police department?
When flagging, should we go and flag anyone for a good cause? Or should we take considerations?
Can I undo a flag?
Could I flag myself? What happens when I flag a post I made and submit it?
Why is it allowed?
Is there a way for a person to communicate with a guardian who messaged him?
Is help center really our only resort?
What about banning? Is it something like getting fired?
Do guardians immediately inform a user why they're banned after they're banned? Or do they quietly ban them?
What is a ban appeal?
What do guardians really do? Is the flag queue all what they track?
Do they also help in rebuilding the website?
How long is it going to take?
When are we going to see additional features? After the site is completely rebuilt?
Is the Khan Academy crew getting annoyed and tired with these questions?
How do program id's work? Are we allowed to know?
I'm surprised that anyone could view a program even if it's made by a child account.
Thank you!
