Precalculus/trig/imaginary numbers/complex planes

Hi,

I'm doing the precalculus exercises, and I'm really getting stuck on the arctangent. When I use the calculator for the exercises, I often get a different answer (for the first step) than what is being shown in the hints. Can anyone tell me what I should be doing differently?
