How to begin re-learning math correctly? (Early Math-Beyond)

I'm a college student that began having trouble understanding/caring about math at a certain point in elementary/high school.I tried taking college algebra recently, and had serious trouble with even the simplest of questions/terminology. I found this site, and would like to try to relearn math from the very beginning (starting with early math and progressing forward). However, I'm not quite sure how to go about this. Do I simply start the first lesson and continue from lesson to lesson, or do the personalized study plan (which is what I have used so far)? I would like to go about my mission in the most effective way possible, as to not leave any gaps/holes in my memory, so I would appreciate any helpful feedback.
