The daily Flagging limit needs to be increased.

I think you are right, there is an issue with bad questions. But I think at some point students need to take responsibility for their education. While you could try flagging users, new users will appear.

Perhaps if there is some basic quality control. That could help in eliminating bad questions. E.g. checking if the "?" is used in questions.

How do you feel about the posts that are insults, or literally screensful of copied transcript?

The type of post you are describing are uncommon.

I think one thing we need to remember, there are many resources out there students can use. They can refer to the Q/A or YouTube. At some point, students need to take responsibility for their education.

cossine, if you think those kind of posts are uncommon, I invite you to look at the 6th grade math questions queue on a Tuesday or Wednesday when school is in session. Often fewer than 1/3 of the posts are on-topic, and few of those directly ask for help.  At least once/week someone copies screenfuls of transcript as a question.  Sometimes people type in screenfuls of tip or a math riddle but post it as a question.

Evan, I just noticed something at the top of the form, that I think is new:

"Use this form to report high-priority or time-sensitive issues with user discussions. Our Trust & Safety team will review the reports and take action as needed."

I would like to be as helpful and effective as possible, and don't want to make things harder for you or any of the other KA staff or volunteers.  Maybe you can help me understand when it would be best to flag, and when it would be best to use the form.

I've been using the form when there is a pattern across multiple posts with the user, or when I think comments from me about the situation would be helpful.  If the problems are all in Questions, I link to their Questions page; if it extends to multiple areas, I link to their overall discussion page; if the problem is a singular post, I link directly to that post.  Sometimes it may not be high-priority or time-sensitive.  Since I have no idea how the flagging system works on the Guardian end, I don't know how helpful it is for me to point out the patterns, or if Guardians already skim or scour a user's entire discussion history when responding to a flag.

(I also am not always sure which radio button to choose as the reason I am flagging.  If it is important for me to get the category correct, I could ask you questions about that as I come across situations where I am not sure.  Otherwise, I'll just keep doing my best to choose the reason that seems to fit most closely.)

I think what you've already been doing has been fine :)

You can use the form if:

- A user has made multiple problematic posts

- A post is inappropriate (profanity, threats of violence, etc.)

- You think additional context may be needed when reviewing the post (such as reporting a plagiarized post, for which I might not notice or recognize the source)

For other issues, such as spammy posts by users with only a couple posts on their account, regular flagging is preferred since that's much easier to review in bulk.

I always review the entire account for each report, so linking to their profile works well unless there's a particular post you want me to pay special attention to (or if they have lots of other OK posts).

The category provides me with general guidance, but doesn't really matter that much. Just pick whichever category you think makes the most sense.

Currently I don’t appear to have a daily limit anymore.

1. Increasing the flag limit does not make sense if flags are not attended to.
2. The number of flags you can raise per day needs to be capped to keep the flag queue manageable.
3. The number of flags you can per day can be automatically increased if a certain share of flags have been helpful. It does not make sense to flood the flag queue with unhelpful flags.

1. I agree that flags need to be attended to.  The review process seems to be somewhat sporadic, sometimes taking over a week to review flags that were raised the same day the post was made.
2. I agree that Khan Academy has an interest in capping the number of flags a user can raise in a day.
3. Changing the maximum daily flags a user can raise depending on how accurately they flag is an interesting idea.  I don't know what information Khan Academy keeps on the flags that were raised by a user, nor if they evaluate how accurately someone flags.
   I would find it very helpful to get feedback on which of the flags I've raised were not helpful, or even just how many (or what proportion) of flags in the last day or week were not helpful.  As far as I know, there is no way to get that kind of feedback other than tracking the posts I flag, then later going back to see if the posts get removed or edited, or are unchanged but the flag has been cleared.

@Kai Burghardt: I just wanted to let you know that there is still a daily flag limit, but it seems to have been increased again. Just now I received the "KAInternalError: Failed to flag post" error after flagging around 200 posts (estimate).

For context, I was able to successfully flag nearly every non-question post in the K-8 math courses posted in the last 24 hours, which I had not been able to do before. I did a quick scan and roughly counted my number of flags raised before hitting the limit on Tuesday, 28th October 2025 @ ~6:00AM UTC:

• 8th: 8
• 7th: 14
• 6th: 6
• 5th: 44
• 4th: 50
• 3rd: 34
• 2nd: 17

Total: 173 (after checking the K-8 math courses, i flagged a number of posts outside the math courses soon before i hit the limit)
