Creative Writing Corner: Feature Request/Content Proposal

Summary:

Many Khan Academy users have been writing stories, poems, and songs, recently and this is a great thing.

The only way they have to share them within Khan Academy at this time, however, is by saving them as programs under the Computer Science section of the site.

Some of these works have garnered many votes and risen quickly up the hot list, even when the "program" portion has been "story is in the comments for now".

If a "regular" program were to be released with only a message saying "pseudocode in the comments", it would not be likely to receive many votes from members of the community but might actually receive negative feedback.

Despite that, creative writing should be encouraged, somewhere on Khan Academy.

The new and expanding Grammar area within Arts and Humanities would be an excellent place for a Khan Academy Creative Writing Corner.

Proposal:

Create a new area for creative writing endeavors, to provide a place for stories and poems that is dedicated to writing, not programming.

Stories and poems would be saved as HTML pages.

Since users have already become accustomed to saving their stories, poems, and songs as programs, the Creative Writing Corner could be accessed from both

· Grammar
    https://www.khanacademy.org/humanities/grammar

with a view to migrating the content fully over time.

Ideally, the Creative Writing Corner would have options for users to work in a rich text editor or to tinker with the HTML directly, thereby accommodating both those experienced with HTML and those who are not interested in coding.

Users should have the ability to vote up stories, poems, and songs as is currently the case for prorams and webpages.
