Does anyone know how to use the tint( ) function within a KA program? The KA programming environment recognizes the tint( ) function, but when used, it seems to break the image( ) command and not work. Specifically, a student of mine is looking for a way to adjust the alpha / opacity of an image. Seems like tint( ) should be the function to use, but it doesn't seem to work correctly.
someone has discovered that KA's PJS environment can be absolutely miserable to program in sometimes.
the fix might be more complicated than you or your student was imaginin' lol. i've over-engineered the fix to make it reusable for multiple images, but it should work for your student an' still be self-explanatory. please lmk if you have any questions or concerns as to how the program works, :).
Thanks! I had thought about doing the pixel by pixel thing, but was hoping there was a simpler solution. Your function is nice and compact. To make things easier for my student, I modified your function so that it does not return the faded image, it just displays it, so it works just like the image function with an extra alpha parameter.

there is an easier way. i'll refer you to a friend's spin-off. it's just not "legal", so if you wished to release your project where it would get votes, the project would most likely be hidden from the Hot List. if you don't care about votes, his way is better.

image(fadedImage, xpos, ypos, w, h);
//instead of
image(fadedImage, xpos,ypos,w,h);
