Setting Up Step-by-Step

Khan Academy got an update in the last month and things probably look different than they did when you took your PD class.  Change is constant, eh?

So recommendations were probably what you saw and they've been replaced by Assignments.  There's better visibility into how your students are doing and it's easier for you to control how they show up on the student screens -- you can use the due date for the assignments to get them to stack up in the order that you want.  Here's the article about Assignments; let us know if you have any questions beyond that: https://khanacademy.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000772311-Creating-and-managing-Assignments-for-your-class

For question 2 -- yeah, I think that setting is gone.  :-\  Khan has gone from a "get 5 in a row right" metric to a "do so many problems and get at least 70% right", in order to advance from Needs Practice to Practiced (Mastery challenges work the same way as before).  I'll be honest, this is not without controversy in the teaching community.

For question 3 -- I have a list of South Jersey / Philly area Ambassadors, but I don't want to make it public.  I'll contact them through our private chat and find someone to help you out.

So how do I contact them through private chat?  Or are you doing that?  If you are, how will I know or get in touch with the person? 

Regarding Question 1:  Still unclear.  Is the pretest/diagnostic gone?  I can't find it.

Sorry I didn't answer #1 -- I wasn't sure I understood that issue.  Are you talking about the Mission Warm-up that happens the first time a student goes to a new Mission?  I'm pretty sure that still exists, but I don't recall ever seeing a method of viewing the results of that warm up (other than that it was included with all the other work the student does for that Mission). 

I am trying to identify which Ambassadors are closest to South Jersey (can you let me know which town you're in?).  Then I'll encourage him or her to reply here and the two of you can arrange something privately.  We don't want to make all the Ambassadors information public; we're volunteers and as such we have differing levels of time that we can dedicate to the cause.

Khan Academy is also planning to set up a page where you can request an Ambassador for a training session, but that's not in place yet -- so this will have to do for now.
