Well I have a doubt related to the acid base concentration........... What happens to the pH of a base when it is diluted with water?Should it decrease or Increase? Why should it increase or decrease?.............Similarly What happens to the pH of a acid when it is diluted with water ? Why does It happen?

When diluting with (pH neutral) water, the pH should be pushed closer to mediary 7. Since the pH of a base is higher than 7, the pH will decrease to be closer to 7. With acids (which have pH's less than 7), the pH will increase to be closer to 7. If the water is acidic, pH will go down to make the solution more acidic, and if it is basic, the pH will go up to make the solution more basic.
