How to add 1st grade course to my student (it's missing)

I believe this is because the Early Math course covers both the Kindergarten and 1st grade math courses. The 1st grade course has units Place Value, Addition and Subtraction, and Measurement, Data, and Geometry, which can be found in the Early Math course as well.

Believe me, I understand your frustration!  So, they removed the ability to assign kindergarten and first grade courses and lessons when Khan Academy Kids premiered.  While it's a useful tool, my twin kindergarteners also use the regular site.  There are three workarounds that I've found:

1. Early Math covers most kindergarten through second grade, can still be assigned as a course, and can still be easily assigned through both Assign and Skills tabs in the Teacher dashboard.  I open the course I really want in a tab next to the Assign tab, so that I can double check whether I really want to add a certain skill in Assign.  

2. You can go to the top left of your screen and go into the kindergarten course (all the way down to see all math courses, then kindergarten and first grade are at the top).  When you open a lesson, you should have a bar pop up on the top of the screen that allows you to assign that particular lesson to students.  Once it's assigned, you can see it like normal in Manage, Scores and the Activity Log.

3. You can sign into your students' accounts and manually add the course to their goals.  However, this won't let you assign anything for those courses.  I only did this so that my motivated kindergartener would know what I preferred she do first, although she knows that she's welcome to try anything.  You will be able to see anything they do in Activity Log, but because there won't be any assignments or assigned courses, you won't have anything in the Teacher dashboard for assign, manage, scores, skills or progress.

Other than that?  Just add your name to those of us who want the functionality of assigning kindergarten and first grade courses returned!  There are several threads about this is General questions, Classroom product questions, content requests and feature requests.  I'm hoping that they'll listen soon!

The issues that we run into is that Early Math is too broad for kindergarten and first grade.  There are too many skills, and it takes a lot longer for younger kids to become fluent in the skills.  We really need the ability to assign just the courses that we want the kids to do, in case they try to do it without any adult reading the questions.

Though 1st Grade is not a course you can set to your class, its content can still be assigned manually without the need for the course to be added in the class subject line.

I’ve outlined the steps to go about doing this here:

Step 1: Go to the search bar at the upper left-hand side of your screen and type in the name of the course needed (on the screenshots below, I am using the High school Geometry content as an example).

Step 2: After you go to the page you can view the content, and then click on the topic that you want to assign content from.

Step 3: Once you have chosen the exercise you want, click on it and the following page will appear to assign the content to the corresponding class.

Step 4: From here, you can choose which class you assign it to, the due date and if you assign it immediately or save it for later use.

Step 5: Click on Assign or Save to complete.

Does this process still work? I'm trying to assign 1st grade math to my daughter and don't see the "assign" button when I get to step 3.
