Multiplication Tricks For 9 Times Tables

Rainbow here. I have long since mastered multiplication up to 12, but my younger brother needed help with his 9 times tables, one that in third grade I struggled with. Here are some cool tips!

#1: Look! All the answers add up to nine, which is helpful for some if you only have one digit. See? 1x9=9, (0+9=9), 2x9=18 (1+8=9), 3x9=27 (2+7=9) and so on!

#2: If you write out all the numbers vertically, on the left side going down 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and on the right side going down 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, and then number them top to bottom, those are the answers to the 9 multiplication tables, see?

#3: This might be my favorite one. You can use your fingers to show you what the answer is for nines. Here's a how-to! NOTE: This only can be used up to 9x10!

First, put your hands in front of you and label them 1-10 left to right, like this.

• Great! Now, let's say I was trying to solve 9x3. I would bend down my third finger, so there was 2 on the left and 7 on the right. 
• On the left side is your tens. For 9x3, I have two tens on the left.
• On the right side is your ones. For 9x3, I have seven ones on the right.
