Why can't we discuss bans?

Discussing the banned status of users is considered to be off-topic and an invasion of privacy, so we tend to hide programs that discuss bans or moderation actions. The details of why a user was banned is really nobody's business besides site moderators and the banned user.

Additionally, the information that is usually spread about banned users is rarely accurate. Moderators don't give out any information about moderation decisions, and keep in mind that what users tell their friends is often times different that what actually happened or than what they told staff, so the information that other users think they know usually isn't correct.

Think about it this way: If you were banned, would you want other users writing about you and publishing information that isn't accurate?

So, to answer your question, we remove content that discusses banned users in order to protect the involved users' privacy, and to make sure the conversations are focused on learning.
