Update: New Support Community Structure

Today we revamped the Support Community structure a bit, and I wanted to give a bit more details as to what changed, and why. 

New Forums:

We’ve added two new forums: Study Group and Classroom Tips and Tricks.  We've started to move existing conversations into those forums, but expect more movement into these forums in the coming weeks.

 Classroom Tips and Tricks

• We’ve added a space for educators to share their experience using Khan Academy in the classroom with each other.  We wanted to create a designated place for these kinds of conversations, and as part of this we also renamed the Teacher and Coach Support Community to Coach Tool Product Questions and Feedback, with the idea that that forum will be the place for more functional discussion of coach tools and feedback.

Study Group

• A lot of people come to the support community to get help with a specific problem or concept that they are trying to learn, so we’ve created a forum just for those kinds of discussions.  The Study Group forum is the best place to go if you are looking for help with a practice problem on Khan Academy or are up for providing some guidance to others who are looking for help.

Deprecated Forums:

We’ve removed the “Parent Community” forum and moved all previous threads into the most relevant other forum.  Most of these posts were either general help questions or coach tool questions, so hopefully there will be less confusion about where parents should go if they have questions related to a specific part of the site.

Renamed Forums:

The rest of the forums have been renamed to be more specific about what kinds of questions or feedback should be posted in each of them.  We’ve also added a pinned topic to most of them that go into more detail about the best practices for each forum.   

We hope these changes will make the Support Community more useful to everyone, but we’d love to hear what you think :-]

Community Support
