Sexist stereotypes in finance videos
As it stands, the finance series seems to reinforce some pervasive gender stereotypes.
In "Going back to the till: Series B" video, not only are all the founders men, but so are all of the investors - the angel investor and the venture capitalists too.
That's unfortunate, but I wouldn't be writing this post if it weren't for the next part, where my heart sank. This is when the IPO was mentioned. We learn that the IPO is a good thing for the angel investor, who just got a divorce and needs to cash out on his investment because he just got a divorce and needs to make his alimony payment. This was the only role played by a woman in the story. Ouch.
Khan Academy is great. As a woman working at a startup accelerator, actively trying to recruit more women into the ecosystem, I know this stuff matters.
Please redo these videos in a more inclusive way!
