You could say that the velocity is decreasing (since it is becoming more negative), but it would not be correct to say that the body is slowing down. The speed is increasing, so the object is speeding up.

it's increasing, because negative velocity is just an opposite direction to positive velocity, not the decrease of speed. hope you got an idea of what I meant.

According to your question, we can say that the velocity is decreasing but if you used -sign to denote the direction then, I think we will say that the velocity is increasing. However, it's only my opinion.
