Algebra question that I cant find the answer to.

Solve the following expression for y

y^(1/3)=x+3

I was not sure if the answer is

A) y = (x+3)^3

B) y = x^3 + 3^3

I purposely left them unfactored for the sake of the question, that is, to illustrate the correct rule, because they both will yield different answers.

It might help to remember that y^(1/3) is equal to cube root of y.

Here are the steps for how to solve the given equation:

Start with your original equation:
y^(1/3)=x+3

Cube both sides:
y = (x + 3)^3

And that's it.

You would read it as "Y [as the letter] squared."
