The lesson on this topic from Unit 1 Lesson 5, is really bad. Equivalent Expressions is not done this way. Has anyone else found this to be the case?

I don't really see it. Could you please specify what you mean by "Equivalent Expressions is not done this way"; how would you have them done?

Equivalent Expressions are supposed to simply be a normal equation, with numbers and letters indicating variables. The way this is is crazy. That is why I am now using a different site to brush up on Algebra 1.

If I understand correctly, you'd like more practice with using equivalent expressions in actual equations - e.g. 'simplify 2x + 3y = 2(6y - 3x)' instead of 'which expression is equivalent to 2(3x + 5y)?'
I don't think that's unreasonable. The way khan covers them is definitely better to begin with as there's only one thing - an expression, not multiple bunched up together in an equation - to focus on, but this would be a welcome addition. I recommend leaving a comment over at Content Requests and Feedback.
