Hello @rinaice! My name is Lisa Krueger and I am a Khan Academy Ambassador teaching in Chicago. First, I want to say how great I think it is that you are using Khan Academy. I did a little research and found that there really is no difference in the content, just how it is organized. Khan Academy has a curriculum aligned with EngageNY. Under the Subjects tab click 8th grade then select Classes and you'll see the 8th grade (EngageNY). I've included a screen shot below. According to the EngageNY website the curriculum should take 180 days or 6 months, so it is conceivable she could finish by December if she Masters every skill on the first attempt. I used Khan Academy last year and the majority of my 8th grade students only Mastered 40% of the content, but I only met with them for 2 hours per week. I hope this helps. Thank you for posting.

Lisa thank you very much for your response! So basically if we do 8th Grade instead of 8th Grade EngageNY we'll end up with same knowledge and practice. 

I am very relieved to know that it's only supposed to take 6 month and I'm not grossly off.

Thanks for the explanation, Lisa!  I homeschool and my kids have been using Khan Academy for years, but when I got my weekly progress email this morning, I noticed my son has earned a bunch of EngageNY badges and this thread explained what they were!

As for pacing....I like to look at the number of exercises in a given year and divide them into 180 (length of a school year) to see how many exercises my kids should be attempting each day.  Then I ask them to do 1-2 mastery challenges when they are done.  You'll obviously have some lag between practicing the last exercise and mastering it, but if you're working at home, that shouldn't matter.  Also, I've noticed that when they're really close to earning a sun badge or finishing a topic, they'll spend extra time practicing exercises, which helps balance the exercises it takes several days to practice.
