Content Update: New exam prep resources added to AP® Calculus AB and new AP® Precalculus course
This summer, Khan Academy is expanding its AP® math offerings with new exam preparation resources added to AP® Calculus AB and a brand new AP® Precalculus course. We are anticipating a late June arrival for both.
These updates are designed to help students build confidence, strengthen conceptual understanding, and prepare for success in AP® mathematics courses and exams.

New AP® Calculus AB exam preparation resources
We've added new resources to help students prepare for the AP® Calculus AB exam and strengthen their understanding of key course concepts.
What's new?
Students will find:
- new articles focused on AP® free-response question (FRQ) preparation
- sample responses and scoring guidance
- additional practice designed to help students write high-quality free-response answers
- new videos supporting existing exercises
- expanded coverage of AP® Calculus AB Essential Skills
These updates are intended to help students better understand what to expect on the exam while providing additional support throughout the course.
For teachers
Teachers may notice:
- new resources focused on free-response question preparation
- expanded support for AP® Calculus AB Essential Skills
- additional videos that help students work through challenging concepts and exam-style questions
The updated content is designed to provide students with more opportunities to practice the skills and reasoning required on the AP® exam.
Will this affect mastery progress?
Some users may notice changes to course mastery percentages as revised and additional exercises are introduced to AP® Calculus AB.
These updates do not remove previously completed work or accomplishments.

Introducing AP® Precalculus
We're also launching a brand new AP® Precalculus course!
As one of the newer AP® offerings, high-quality instructional resources can be difficult to find. This course is designed to provide comprehensive support for students learning AP® Precalculus and preparing for the AP® exam.
What can students expect?
Students will find:
- exercises designed to mirror the language and rigor of the AP® exam
- extensive practice focused on functions and their properties
- 14 new instructional videos
- 5 original articles covering challenging concepts
- detailed hints and guided support throughout the course
The course is designed to help students build strong mathematical intuition while preparing for future coursework, including calculus.
For teachers
Teachers may appreciate:
- alignment to the official AP® Precalculus Course and Exam Description (CED)
- integrated Algebra 2 review resources that support prerequisite skills
- scaffolded support for challenging concepts
- a course structure that supports planning, pacing, and exam preparation
