subtracting negative and positive numbers
I am having great difficulty with this. I am 47 and want desperately to acquire my GED so I may improve myself and my life options. I find this very confusing and know I cant move to algebra and geometry without this skill level. I have watched the videos and follow the steps but it seems the longer the problem the further from the correct answer I am.I don't understand what I am doing wrong. When I go to the hints I find it is some simple mistake like reading the signs wrong or adding when I should subtract however I have slowed down and repeated the lessons over and over and still to no end I keep missing something. Could you please help by making a video that first shows the signs before making me guess ti add or subtract. Please. I really want this. I need this. I wish I could tell kids how hard it is to do this later and all at once instead of grade by grade. I have no high school so I have a mountain in front of me. I wish there were a free online course for older people such as myself where we could pass a grade and maintain that credit and so on to reach a diploma. This way I have to learn the two years of middle school over so I can do the three years of high school to take one big test. I just want to get a job worth having. Kids don't even know. Sometimes just to get a job as a housekeeper making beds and scrubbing toilets they require a GED for the job.
As a child in school, you pass a level and move on. as a drop out you have to, as in my case learn 5 years of math to take one test.
I use this tic-tac-toe like method to remember when I find myself confused on how to do it. The blue are the positives, and the red is the negative. Even though there are plus signs for this picture, this formula can be used for most all integer problems. I don't know if this was exactly you were asking for, but I hope this helps.
