Course Unit Progress Icons are Confusing Me - I took a Quiz and got no more points that I could See

The icons for the Quiz and Unit Test items will always be gray with a lightning bolt (for quizzes) or a star (for unit tests), regardless of whether or not you have done them before. This is because the quizzes and unit tests are meant to be taken multiple times until you reach the "Mastered" level for all skills in that topic.

When looking at your mastery progress in a lesson page, you can identify whether or not you should do a quiz or unit test by looking at the skills to the left of it. Getting a question correct on a quiz will move the skill from Not Started (or Attempted) to Familiar or from Familiar to Proficient. Getting a question correct on a unit test will move the skill up one level, including from Proficient to Mastered.

If you look at the image above, the only quiz that I should take to increase my mastery progress is Quiz 3---the third lighting bolt from the left. This is because there is a skill to the left of it that is not mastered. Taking any of the other quizzes would not increase my mastery percentage because those skills are already mastered. I could also increase my progress by doing the unit test, since that covers all skills in the entire unit.

When taking a quiz or unit test, be on the lookout for this banner! It will alert you when you click on a quiz or unit test for which there are no more skills to master.
