Six times a negative five quarters, plus one, is less than zero.
6 x -5/4 + 1 < 0
Maybe easier to see if you convert fraction to a decimal.
-5/4 = - 1.25 so equation becomes
6 x -1.25 + 1 < 0
Multiple is like adding so if you use a number line and add -1.25 six times you will end up at - 7.5, so equation looks like this now:
-7.5 + 1 < 0
On the number line still, if you add a positive number to a negative you move to the right towards zero so,
-7.5 + 1 = -6.5 and a negative number is always less than zero so,
-6.5 < 0
A solid cube is chopped off at its 8 corners to form equilateral triangles with 3 new corners each. The new 24 corners are then joined with diagonals. How many diagonals lie completely in the cube?
I need help with the question.
